Donate to Our New Orleans Campaign

In advance of this year's Annual Meeting in New Orleans, ASCB is conducting a donation campaign to support an outreach project that will benefit a teacher/classroom in New Orleans.

We have teamed up with Dan Fletcher at the University of California, Berkeley, whose lab created the CellScopes that were featured at last year's meeting (video below). Now upgraded to be used with iPads, these are fantastic mobile, high-resolution microscopes.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to purchase a classroom set of 10 CellScopes. A curriculum for their use in studying plant stomata is being developed by the California Academy of Sciences, which beta-tested the scopes in May. We are working with local contacts to identify a motivated teacher (likely grade 4-6) who will be eager to use the scopes and lend them to others in the future. The teacher and his or her students will be invited to come to the Annual Meeting to accept the CellScopes and receive training.

Please help us make this campaign a great success and donate. (This is a tax-deductible contribution for ASCB members in the United States.)
